Greenline Wheels wants to give you a special gift this holiday season...
$1 indoor bike rides.
As we approach the New Year, the buzz about health grows louder. Get a jump-start on your 2012 fitness goals with convenient bike workouts at Greenline Wheels.
Stop by between Monday, December 26th and Friday, December 30th for indoor riding. During winter months at Greenline Wheels we mount our bikes on Kinetic bike trainers, allowing them to become stationary. Whether you are an avid cyclist keeping your legs in shape or a workout newbie that hasn’t ridden a bike in 30 years, indoor riding will accommodate your fitness level.
With a variety of bikes available and no balance needed, indoor riding is a perfect solution for those in need of a great alternative to running. We’ll be open all week, Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm. We have towels, chilled water, music and a TV/DVD player.
Throw on your tennis shoes, grab a family member and come jump on a bike! Stay as long (or short) as you’d like.

Park District Safety Class is a Success! (expired: 10/03/2011)
This past weekend, Greenline Wheels proudly partnered with the Park District of Oak Park to offer our first Family Bike Safety Class! Together parents and kids brought their bikes and geared up to hit the road. Even a little rain didn't get in the way of a great day of games and activities, learning about bike safety.
Instructor David Poppei gave hands-on demonstrations that included proper fitting, basic bike maintenance, and the rules of the road. Certified by the League of American Bicyclists, David had participants getting down to business, pumping tires, signaling turns, and even dropping eggs. Yes, our new friends learned the messy way, using smilie-faced eggs to understand how helmets protect us in accidents. To view pictures, click the link.
Here at Greenline we are thankful for the opportunity to promote an ethos of cycling in our community. Our hope is that residents of all ages are adequately prepared, to safely and confidently include biking in their regular routine. We look forward to many more opportunities for collaboration and adventure!

Greenline Announces New Partnerships (expired: 09/07/2011)
NEVs CONTINUE TO ROLL AROUND TOWN
Building on its commitment to community enhancement, Greenline continues to develop new social and business partnerships. The most recent additions to Greenline's network are the Oak Park Regional Housing Center and Rickshaw Rick's Tours and Transit.
The Housing Center has begun using Greenline's Neighborhood Electric Vehicles to show prospective residents around town. The vehicles have such an open and unique perspective, it's a great way to take in the area.
Rickshaw Rick, Oak Park's highly visible tour and transport expert, has also begun utilizing Greenline's NEVs in his offering. The six seaters are a great shuttle. Rick has been offering shuttle and rickshaw tours from his main service location near the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, and he has recently begun offering a shuttle service serving downtown Forest Park.

Fitting Your Helmet (expired: 05/17/2011)
Does your bike helmet fit? Do you know how to check?
An ill-fitting helmet may be useless in the event of an accident. The Helmet Fit Test below is made up of three easy steps to ensure your helmet is on correctly. Be sure to share this routine with friends and family members, especially kids!
EYES: Position the helmet on your head and look up. You should see the bottom rim of the helmet.
EARS: Make sure the straps form a ‘V’ under your ears when buckled. The straps should be snug, but comfortable.
MOUTH: Open your mouth as wide as you can. Does the helmet hug your head? If not, tighten the straps. Your helmet should not flop around when you nod your head up and down or shake your head back and forth.
Remember, if your helmet has been part of a crash or accident, it likely needs to be replaced.
Happy Biking!

Relieve Your Car: Five Places You Should Bike To (expired: 04/26/2011)
Let’s face it; we live in a car-dependent community. So many of us enjoy the convenience of jumping in the car, even when the destination is a mere mile or two away. Now that the weather is getting warmer, it is the perfect time to begin substituting a bike for a car to get around town. Below are five places it is easier to bike to than you may think...
Gym: Extend a workout warm-up and cool down with a quick bike ride to the gym.
School: We all know getting kids out the door and off to school isn’t always easy. But with a little practice, parents avoid parking, waiting, and traffic by biking children to school.
Pharmacy: Whether picking up pictures or prescriptions, the smaller items bought at convenience stores fit perfectly in bike baskets and backpacks.
Coffee Shop: Spending hours working in a coffee shop can easily result in a towed car due to parking lot time limits. Avoid this or spending all your quarters by biking!
Restaurants: Cool spring evenings are perfect for biking when going out for dinner or ice cream. A meal easily becomes an evening event with the addition of a bike ride.
Tune In To Your Community: Five Fun Local Attractions (expired: 04/18/2011)
Throughout the next two weeks, our community is coming together for Tune In To Your Community and Tune Out TV week. Students from River Forest, Oak Park, and Forest Park are invited to get out and explore their community April 3-17th. Here at Greenline Wheels we love to encourage families to see and do more by exploring on bikes. Our staff compiled a list of their favorite local places to share with those looking for ideas:
Ferrara Pan Candy Co., 7301 W. Harrison St, Forest Park
Did you know the maker of Lemonheads, Atomic Fireballs and Boston Baked Beans is located right in your backyard? In addition to the factory, they have a outlet store where you can purchase their tasty candies.
Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor, 7347 W. Madison, Oak Park
Housed in a theater circa 1913, Brown Cow offers a wide variety of homemade ice cream and other treats. Bring a group and try to tackle The Trough, a metal trough filled with 21 scoops of ice cream and toppings!
The Lost Village in Thatcher Woods, Chicago & Thatcher Ave, River Forest
Buried in Thatcher Woods is a subdivision that was abandoned in the 1930s because of flooding. If you go straight west from Division and wander around a bit, you’ll find foundations and artifacts from these old homes.
Prodigy Glassworks, 207 Harrison Street, Oak Park
Ever seen somebody create amazing sculptures with blow glass? Stop by the Prodigy Glassworks Studio and see the artists in action.
Circle Bowling Lanes, 7244 Circle Ave, Forest Park
This bowling alley hasn’t changed in awhile, which is what makes it so great. Here they have bowling how it was meant to be, including old school non-electronic scoring.
Parents, if you bring your child in to Greenline Wheels April 4th-10th, you can rent two bikes for the price of one (includes helmets and locks). If you already have bikes, come in for tour ideas, free maps, and information about local attractions. For a calendar of local events, check out the TV Tune Out website http://tvtuneoutweek.wordpress.com/
Green Wheels Rolls (expired: 03/19/2011)
Huge Turn out for Forest Park's Saint Patty's Celebration
Greenline Wheels made a strong showing at this year's parade with two of its Neighborhood Electric Vehicles providing mid-parade support and entertainment, with the Segway cruising in and out, handing out bubble gum and free rentals.
Fun was had by all.
